Ancestors
This painting is rife with symbolism and was originally created for one of my best friends, who has Cherokee heritage. She wanted to honor her grandmother in a painting, and I chose to take the concept a little farther by including all of the phases of a woman’s life, implying also that the generations in front of us and behind us are just as powerful as the present. In this painting, I wanted to honor the four directions, the phases of life, and all of the different beings that there are. Four legged, fish people, and winged ones, plant beings, and shell beings. I chose a bear because to me, the bear is a guardian of the dream world and the unconscious.
This is a limited print, I will only be making 50 of these total. Ever. They are 24x24 and that is the only size they come in. This painting is printed on high quality UV and water resistant fine art paper.
As with all of my prints featuring indigenous people 25% of the proceeds of each sale of this piece will go to the charity benefiting tribes. I donate proceeds quarterly. Check out the donations page for more.
