Blue Bird at Sunset
A story about the Eastern Blue Bird. When I made this painting, I was living on a farm experiencing a very deep connection to the seasons, and the earth, and the people in my life. Suddenly, things started to change very quickly. I was in turmoil, but I would sit outside and watch the blue birds, and they were so bright against the green of the pasture. They were like little beacons of hope and life.
The Blue Bird is one of three birds in my bird series. All of these birds are painted over the sheet music for Ave Maria, to honor my grandmother, who taught me how to paint.
